Sonic X Collection 1 review

Hello guys, it is SonikkuEkkusu here with the "Sonic X Collection 1" review! Before we begin I will need you to know that this is ONLY the English dubbed version. Not the Japanese, but the English dub, alright? My review of the set won't be based on how good the English dub is, but the quality of the set itself, so if you were looking for reviews on the dub itself, then sorry; this isn't the place. Now let's begin! -Packaging Quality- When you see the set you will first be greeted by art of Sonic and friends. Looks pretty good in my opinion. The new background art looked odd to me at first, but it's certainly grown on me. Look on the back and you will see the description, and some pictures of scenes from some episodes. Unlike what the store descriptions suggest the description is completely original, so that's good. When I first opened up the set, I noticed there was no poster in there like I thought there would be, then I realized that it was the cover art that doubled as a poster. Disappointing that it's either the cover art or the poster, but maybe people can sell them on eBay. After looking at the art I decided to check out the discs to see if they were in good quality, but boy, they put those discs in there tight! Whenever I try to get the discs out I have to push really hard on those buttons, and also be very careful not to break the discs at the same time. It was in good shape, but my finger started to hurt a bit from pushing on that button so hard! So in conclusion for the packaging, everything looks good, and it's all original art. Disappointing that the poster is a part of the cover art, but I'll live with it. I, however, would've liked the discs to be easier to get out of the box. -Video and Sound Quality- Everything looks good, except a small issue. Upon turning on the show, I noticed they had that TV-Y7 logo, so it sucks they didn't remove it at all. Other than that the video looks great! Something I'm glad they didn't do is crop the image to make it widescreen like how Funimation did with the DBZ orange bricks. Almost everything sounds perfect, but there are a few minor sound bugs. For a split second (literally a split second or less) the sound cut out during the episode "A Chaotic Day," and two or three times during disc 07. Don't worry, though. It's not so bad where you'll jump when they hit since they're not loud at all. -Region 1 Only?- Now this is a major disappointment I have to address. The set is only Region 1, so Sonic fans in the UK will be disappointed unless they can hack their video player, or have some device that can play the DVDs, so I'll have to subtract a point for that. Overall, it has good packaging, and the video/sound is near perfect! I would recommend it to parents, people who like the dub, or just anyone who wants an uncut release of Sonic X. I give this set an 8.0! :)
