Despite 1,000 people signing this petition to halt the EUSD board's decision to fund an enrichment program over the academic needs of our children, the board moved forward allocating almost half a million dollars for one enrichment program while leaving it to our parents to pay for the majority of the core curriculum (science, PE, music, art) needs of our children. This is just another example of the school board not being responsive to community members. Furthermore, our school board has violated the Brown Act that was designed to ensure an open and transparent governance and our school district ranks as the second-least transparent school district in all of San Diego County. They are pushing through their special interests without any accountability to those they are supposed to be serving. It is critical that we elect school board members who put the needs of our children over special interests, listen to and engage with community members and lead with openness and transparency. After researching the four candidates, we are endorsing the following two candidates for the two seats up for election on the Encinitas School Board.
