Adopted on 13 June 2023, the Submission Deadline for the Inquiry into the Recognition of Unpaid Carers ended on Friday 18 August 2023.

Did you even know about it?

Many Unpaid Carers found out about the Senate Inquiry on the grapevine with many not understanding what Terms of Reference means; thereby their voices silenced – effectively gagged!

Those who wrote via email to make a Submission – rejected!

The Terms of Reference included the following statement: “Please note that the Committee is not considering the adequacy of carers’ payments” because “the adequacy of payments for carers is out of scope for this inquiry.”

WHY?

Clearly not a watershed moment for Unpaid Carers, just a fleeting feel good occasion for the Federal Government!

What is it going to take to wake our politicians up?

Please distribute this Petition to as many people as you can; and your local media too.

Petitions are nothing without signatures, and almost 15,000 signatures is simply not enough – it should be ten times that!

The more signatures, the more likely someone might listen: the Prime Minister, the Minister responsible, politicians, bureaucrats – the media!

Only when Petition signatures are in their tens of thousands do they translate to Votes and Marginal Seats.
