FACT: Carers Get No Holiday Leave Entitlements or Benefits.
FACT: Carers Often Dip Into, and Deplete Their Own Financial Reserves in Supporting the Person(s) they care for.
FACT: The National Minimum Wage is Gazetted at $42,246.88 Per Year, or $21.38 Per Hour for a 38 Hour Week. Many Carers Work Four Times Harder 24/7, 365 Days a Year for as Little as 43 Cents an Hour, Receiving Just 8.91% of the National Minimum Wage.
FACT: The Basic Rate for Job Search Allowance is $701.90 a Fortnight, or 43% of the National Minimum Wage for – in Most Cases – Doing Nothing.
FACT: Paid Support Workers Get 20 Odd Dollars an Hour Compared to a Family or Friend Carer Who Gets Between 43 Cents an Hour (Carer Allowance) and $3.17 an Hour (Carer Payment).
FACT: Contrary to What Some Might Surmise, Carers Do Not Receive a Secondary $1064.00 Pension/Benefit Each Fortnight to Look After an Aged, Infirm, Disabled, or Incapacitated Person 24/7, 365 Days of the Year.
FACT: The Government Continues to Ignore the Plight and Suffering of Carers; We Need to Make them Listen. ……….
