Time's Up in the Oregon Capitol. Take a stand against sexual harassment today.

Last week, Oregon State Senator Jeff Kruse submitted his resignation after a 51-page report detailed numerous instances where he sexually harassed and inappropriately touched female employees, a lobbyist and fellow elected officials.

Unfortunately, Kruse’s resignation is not effective until March 15. Until then, he will still receive his taxpayer-funded salary, benefits, and per diem.

Sign the petition to show you agree that the terms of State Senator Kruse’s resignation are entirely inadequate. Stand with us to say that sexual harassment in the Oregon State Capitol hurts everyone.

It is clear that the Oregon State Capitol is not a safe workplace as long as sexual harassers are allowed to exit on their own terms and be paid by the taxpayers.

The message this situation sends to victims is unacceptable and creates a system that continues to give power to the abusers.

More must be done. Here is what we are advocating for:

·  We demand Kruse’s immediate resignation or expulsion from the Senate AND a more complete investigation and review of the systems in place to protect everyone from sexual harassment in the Capitol.

·  Concrete next steps must be taken to improve the system, ensuring every individual feels safe working in the Capitol. Improvements must also be made to ensure individuals can bring forward future complaints of sexual harassment. We are calling on the Legislature to take concrete action to address systemic change for handling sexual harassment in our state Capitol.

·  All our legislative leaders must speak out clearly and say they believe the women who were harassed by Senator Kruse and respect their courage in telling their stories to the independent investigator. Legislative leaders must make it clear that harassment and abusive behavior will never be tolerated in the Capitol and that any man or woman who experiences it will always have the support of House and Senate leaders in reporting this behavior.

Sign the petition today. Tell our legislative leaders that “Time’s Up” for Senator Kruse today—not a month from now.
