Four days ago, I reported that newspapers ranging from the Daily Telegraph to the Morning Star were saying that there is a mood for a new political party in Britain. An opinion poll had suggested that if Jeremy Corbyn were to launch such a party, it could initially attract the support of 10% of voters. However, the worrying statistic in that poll was that whilst a new party would win votes from Labour and the Greens, Reform UK would still hold a 7% lead over other parties.

Zarah Sultana MP resigns from Labour
Well, last night, Zarah Sultana MP resigned from the Labour Party and announced her intention to be involved in a new party. Clearly, many more people today are taking the prospect of a new party seriously.

I believe we need to involve more trade unionists in shaping this new party to make it not just for, but of, the working class. Only the unions possess the resources, membership, and social cohesion necessary to reach millions of people across all working-class communities and burst the Reform bubble.

Come along to the national Zoom meeting, which has been organised to hear from some of the petition's initial sponsors, and join in a detailed discussion of the campaign.

The Zoom meeting is on Monday, 21st July, at 6:30 pm. Register at https://tinyurl.com/Register4TUnewpartymeeting to receive a link to join.
