In recent days, newspapers ranging from the Daily Telegraph to the Morning Star have reported that pressure is mounting for a new political party in Britain. The Daily Mail, among others, has highlighted a recent opinion poll suggesting that if Jeremy Corbyn were to launch such a party, it could initially attract the support of 10% of voters.

This poll, conducted by More in Common, shows the huge potential for a new anti-austerity, anti-war party. However, the worrying statistic in their findings is the continued support for Reform UK. The poll suggests that a new party would win votes from Labour and the Greens, yet Reform would still hold a 7% lead over other parties.

We need to involve more trade unionists in shaping this new party. Only the unions possess the resources, membership, and social cohesion necessary to reach millions of people across all working-class communities and burst the Reform bubble.

Following the initial petition launch, a national Zoom meeting has now been organised to hear from some of the campaign's initial sponsors, which now include 37 current and former national trade union representatives from 11 unions. You are invited to join us for a detailed discussion of the campaign.

The Zoom meeting is on Monday, 21st July, beginning at 6:30 pm. Register at https://tinyurl.com/Register4TUnewpartymeeting to receive a link to join.
