Time for Change: Modernize Nevada's Cottage Food Laws

Time for Change: Modernize Nevada's Cottage Food Laws
The Issue
As home bakers and cottage food producers in Nevada, we are calling for urgent updates to our outdated cottage food laws. The current regulations, established over a decade ago, do not reflect the realities of today’s economy or the diverse needs of our community.
We are asking for the following changes:
Raise or Remove the $35,000 Income Cap: The current cap severely limits our ability to grow and sustain our businesses in a state with a high cost of living and expensive commercial leasing options.
Allow Online Sales and Interstate Shipping: In today’s digital age, the ability to sell online and ship our products beyond state lines is essential for reaching more customers and increasing revenue.
Permit Sales in Local Cafes and Stores: We believe that showcasing local cottage food products in our community businesses will not only boost our incomes but also enhance the sense of community pride and support for local makers.
While Nevada has taken steps forward with street vending, it’s time for our cottage food laws to catch up. These changes are crucial for empowering local food producers, fostering economic growth, and meeting the diverse needs of our consumers.
Join us in advocating for a modernized approach to cottage food laws that supports local businesses and creates opportunities for all. Sign this petition to show your support for these necessary changes!
Together, we can create a thriving local food community in Las Vegas and throughout Nevada!
Las Vegas and Nevada Cottage Makers feel free to suggest any other changes and improvements you would like to see. Email me at PennypopLLC@gmail.com to share your thoughts.
