Last week, after a long and difficult road of campaigning, we welcomed the Government’s Road Safety Strategy 2026, which aims to reduce road deaths by 65%.
One of the recommendations of this strategy directly meets our ambition for Tim's Law:
"Bringing in new powers to suspend the driving licence for: (1) those suspected of committing a drink and/or drug driving offence until attendance at court or a guilty plea, or if bailed pending forensic analysis being undertaken; (2) those under investigation for the most serious motoring offences resulting in a fatality or serious injury"
This is real progress, but for now it is just a proposal. Until it becomes law, we will continue to campaign, so that our dear Tim’s legacy will continue to live on.
We are also urging the government to introduce the immediate roadside evidential saliva test, which is used in France, Australia and other European countries, and is successful at removing drug drivers from the road on the spot.
195,681 of you have already backed us, which is incredible. But can you share the petition to help us reach even more people, and show the government the widespread support to make Britain's roads safer?
