My name is Aiden and I am a 26-year-old female to male transgender individual. I have 2.5 million followers on TickTock where I make multiple posts about being transgender. On my page I spread love positivity and education about the transgender community and about disabled animals. One recent morning I woke up to a text message of a picture from one of my friends showing that my page had permanently been banned because it goes against community guidelines. Nowhere did it say what exactly went against community guidelines or what I did wrong. Luckily for me I had the option to appeal the ban. In my appeal I wrote “ I don’t understand why my TickTock has been banned. I have nothing but love and positivity on my page and multiple people have told me that some days my page is the only thing that put a smile on their face. I spread education about the transgender community and disabled animals. And other trans individuals have come to me and told me that because of my page they have not committed suicide and because of my page they are confident enough to start their own transition. There is absolutely no reason for you to ban my page and this is a big big mistake!” And not even 15 minutes later my page was put back up. I was still unable to edit my profile so I had no bio and no profile pic for the next 24 hours and was also not told why that was banned. I definitely think TickTock is targeting transgender creators. And if they do ban your page or ban certain videos on your page I think they should tell you exactly what you did wrong so that you can prevent that from happening in the future. TikTok definitely needs to do better!
