PETITION TO THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MANITOUWADGE

Subject: Support for a Site-Specific Zoning By-law Amendment at 44 Ohsweken Rd to Remove the Occupancy/Residency Requirement for a Low-Impact Non-Profit Organization.

To the Mayor and Members of Council for the Township of Manitouwadge:

WHEREAS the local non-profit organization, Threads, provides vital, community-minded programs and services to the residents of Manitouwadge, including volunteer mobilization, community support and outreach; and
WHEREAS the organization wishes to operate its low-impact administrative and office workspace out of the existing residential structure at 44 Ohsweken Rd without altering the exterior residential appearance or peaceful character of the neighbourhood; and
WHEREAS current standard Home Occupation bylaws require a permanent live-in resident to occupy the building, which creates an unnecessary operational barrier for this community-focused organization; andWHEREAS the non-profit will operate strictly during standard daytime business hours, manage all parking entirely on-site within the existing driveway, and cause zero negative disruption to municipal street parking, winter snow removal, or local noise levels;

THEREFORE, WE, the undersigned residents, property owners, and supporters in the Township of Manitouwadge, respectfully request that Council approve the requested site-specific Zoning By-law Amendment to remove the residency/occupancy requirement for this property, thereby enabling Threads to better serve our community.
