Hello all 168,846 of you,
It's been a while, but I've got some fantastic news. Today, almost every major UK newspaper was reporting that Thomas Cook has dropped a number of animal attractions from their books. The move comes after 16 of 25 animal attractions that Thomas Cook audited were found the be in breach of their minimum welfare guidelines. All of those 16 have been dropped, 11 of which were dolphin attractions.
This is great, every single one of your signatures, and tweets, and messages to Thomas Cook helped kick start the change. This is a massive step in the right direction, Thomas Cook are the first major tour operator to drop existing attractions, but the fight can't end here. Whilst any step in the right direction is positive, and any change in welfare policy is great, we can't stop until this cruel practice of swimming with captive dolphins ceases to exist. I'm confident however, that this is the beginning of the end.
Once again, I'd like to thank every single one of you, when we all work together, we can achieve wonderful things. Dolphins do not belong anywhere but the ocean, and we won't stop until the tanks are empty.
I hope, somehow, the dolphins know just how many of us are fighting for them.
Thank you always,
Katie
