The Russian military carried out a missile attack on the railway station in Kramatorsk, where civilians were waiting to be evacuated. At least 52 people were killed and about 100 others were injured, local authorities said. At the station at that moment there were thousands of people trying to leave the city.
Bodies and pools of blood can be seen on the ground in photographs and videos posted on the railway's Telegram channel. Bags, clothes and soft toys are scattered around the station.
The doctors who arrived at the scene could not cope with the number of wounded, brigades from neighboring cities left to help. "A lot of people are seriously injured, without arms, legs. They are operated on by 30-40 surgeons at the same time."
The Russians knew exactly where they were aiming." On the wreckage of a rocket that fell in Kramatorsk, the inscription "For children" is visible.
