Dear Supporter Did you know this week was Allergy Awareness Week? There has been a fair bit of activity on social media and some awareness being raised around Allergy. The Campaign raised some awareness too. About the reality of living with Allergy in the UK and how we have Campaigned and continue to campaign around BSACI Guidelines. We regularly promote #alwayscarrytwo and also ran a video competition on our Twitter & Facebook page recently for children and young adults. The videos were created to encourage others getting on with their daily activities and relaxation activities whilst always having two AAI’s on them. The petitions aim is to keep on going, for as long as it takes, to remind the BSACI constantly that we DO NOT agree with their recommendations. The petition has been running for a long time now and has been very active since 2016. We ask that those of you that signed way back in 2016 consider sharing it again today with a new personal message. The petition is 200 short of 52k supporters. Amazing ! however there are lots of people newly diagnosed who now know no different and assume thanks to the BSACI that carrying 1 AAI is the norm! For existing patients reports still regularly come in about failed risk assessment and the slashing of prescriptions with Doctors receptionist’s advising the parents/patient of the GP decision. This is UNACCEPTABLE! Its NOT isolated, and MUST stop !! I leave you today with a post I came across from 2017, a post created in response to the BSACI letter stating what they thought about the Campaign and others encouraging people to #alwayscarrytwo. This is why we continue to do what we do and why we simply cannot stop until the Guidelines are reversed and we in the UK have a consistent approach to allergy management that sits in line with the rest of the world.
