Dear Supporter
Wow! it struck me the other day that the campaign had indeed been running a whole year, doesn't time fly!
Looking back over the year, hand on heart, we know the campaign has been a success to date.
Of course we don't have the joy of seeing the BSACI reverse their decision on the prescription of AAI's, as yet, but we have so many individual case reports of patients obtaining a second AAI directly through seeing our campaign, and for that it has been worth all the effort.
I cannot possibly have come this far without my fellow @Campaign42AAI managers, Lindsay & Iris. Together we have worked tirelessly and I'm forever grateful to have met two women so passionate over this campaign and who also have learnt to put up with me. They are allergy Mum's just like me and we hold the same beliefs, have the same strength, and most importantly the same determination to see this campaign succeed.
This last year saw our photo campaign using the #alwayscarrytwo spread the message worldwide as far away as Australia and America, thanks so much to all our supporters, in particular I have to mention Michelle & Gillian for continuing regularly to send us photos of their own children carrying two AAI's.
As you know we have accounts on Twitter & Instagram and have gained some great support there. The majority of our campaigning this last year was formed through Twitter due to the nature of reaching organisations such as the BSACI & BMA directly. A steep learning curve for someone like me who likes to talk. I have found Twitter is restrictive and can at times be very challenging, I have made some mistakes along the way, but I have also connected with some fantastic organisations across the world, special mention to The Amy May Trust and Red Sneakers for Oakley.
Sadly this Twitter use in turn has lead to what I can only describe as 'trolling' by a certain person, who even went so far as to set up a second Twitter account to contact campaign members. It's sad but it certainly wont deter us, we have 49,000 in agreement and we are their voice in this campaign.
The BSACI should also note the support from G.P's, Nurses and paramedics amongst those that have commented directly on this petition.
So on to the next stage. We have all three decided to take a few weeks break, 12 months is a long time to go without let up, we need downtime and time to think of how we push through the next phase. Look out for a new mini campaign over the Christmas period, we also have some merchandise pending that can be used to show support for the campaign, and a new video in 2018.
Please do keep sharing the petition, our goal 50,000 by the new year!. Regular updates and news can primarily be found on our Facebook page, search @campaign42AAI, please do consider joining.
If I don't manage an update before Christmas, I'm very busy with my Nutfreeliving Christmas Guide on Facebook (A reference guide of products to look out for labelled as peanut & nut safe) then I wish you all a safe and enjoyable festive period, and please remember to #alwayscarrytwo. Thanks for your ongoing support.
Kind regards, Angela
