Every morning and evening, people come to this lake.

Children come to play and explore.
Elderly people come to walk and breathe fresh air.
Families come to spend time together.
People come here after long days of work, looking for peace.
Some come simply because this is the only open public space available nearby.

And around us, animals and birds depend on this lake too.

But today, the lake that should be giving life is slowly dying.

The water has become severely polluted and has started to stink. The condition of the lake has deteriorated due to pollution, waste and eutrophication. Garbage can be seen around the lake, yet there are inadequate or no proper dustbins for visitors. There is no clear system through which citizens can report problems or understand which authority is responsible for maintaining this public space.

The condition was even worse earlier. Some improvements were made a few months ago, and for a brief moment, it felt like something might finally change.

But improvement should not be temporary. A lake cannot be cleaned once and then forgotten.

Today, many people continue to visit this place, while watching its condition slowly deteriorate again. Many people care. Many people are disturbed by the smell and the waste. Many people talk about the problem.

But most of us don't know whom to approach.

We should not have to watch a public natural space decay simply because responsibility is unclear.

This is not just about making a place look clean.

It is about the air people breathe while walking here.

It is about children growing up surrounded by garbage and polluted water.

It is about elderly people who may have nowhere else nearby to walk.

It is about the birds, ducks, fish and other animals whose lives are directly connected to this ecosystem.

It is about the trees and plants surrounding the lake.

And ultimately, it is about us.

A lake is not an empty piece of land waiting to be developed and forgotten. It is a living ecosystem. When a lake suffers, the life around it suffers too.

We are not asking for a temporary cleanup before an election.

We are asking for consistent responsibility, proper maintenance and long-term restoration.

We urge the concerned authorities to:

Identify and clearly communicate who is responsible for maintaining the lake.
Take immediate and scientific measures to address the pollution, eutrophication and severe foul odour.
Ensure regular cleaning and waste management around the lake.
Install adequate dustbins and maintain them regularly.
Protect and restore the ecosystem for humans, animals and birds.
Create a clear system for citizens to report problems and receive updates.
We are not asking for something extraordinary.

We are asking for a clean, safe and healthy public space—and for a living lake to be treated like one.

Let us not wait until this lake is beyond saving.

Let us act while there is still something to save.

Save the lake.

Restore the ecosystem.

Protect the people and animals who depend on it.

Demand long-term action—not temporary attention.
