Dear Friend,

Our case is featured in today’s Philadelphia Inquirer in a column about the blockage of visas for Iraqis and Afghans who assisted our military:

Biden should resolve the blockage of visas for Iraqis and Afghans who helped our troops

In our update last month, we discussed renewed hope because after many years of the case making absolutely no progress, the family was contacted by USCIS and scheduled for additional interviews.  On August 23rd, they were reinterviewed for nine hours but instead of finally getting visa approval, they soon after received notification stating that further review of their eligibility is required and that there is no estimate as to how long it will take until a decision will be made. This, after six years of their case being in “conditionally approved” status and after an altogether 12 years in process.

It is our hope that this most recent media coverage draws more attention specifically to our case and also on the bigger picture:  US policy that continues to leave so many of our Iraqi and Afghan allies behind.

We hope to have another update soon.  Please be on the lookout for a possible Call to Action in the near future.

Pete
