Dear Friend,

We are encouraged by the bipartisan leadership of Congressmen Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), who along with 30 other Members of Congress, wrote a letter this past Friday to the Department of Defense, Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to express concern over the slow processing of visas for Iraqi and Afghan wartime allies.

The letter, which can be accessed in the provided link, directly affects our case as it states, “We are disturbed by reports of slow processing in the two primary programs that remain available to our Iraqi and Afghan partners.   The Iraqi program has a backlog of more than 100,000 people due to slowdowns in the Direct Access Program, where only 48 individuals were admitted in a 10-month period in Fiscal year 2018.”

With now over 134,000 Change.org supporters and a significant amount of media coverage over the years, our conditionally approved case is among the most highly visible of those pending in the Direct Access Program.  It involves an Iraqi family that has sacrificed everything for America and it is our hope that continued bipartisan support of this issue will bring them closer to the safety and reunification that is owed to them.

Thank you for your continued support.

Pete
