Dear Friend,

It has been months since we have last provided an update to our petition signers and this is unfortunately because there has not been one.  The family’s immigration case has not developed any further since it was conditionally approved 19 months ago.

We thank each and every one of you for your support.  Many of you have written to your Members of Congress who have assisted us with inquiries with US immigration agencies that have repeatedly responded by stating the case is still processing with no predicted timeline for finalization.

While the country debates immigration and a southern border wall, many of our Iraqi and Afghan allies who assisted our armed forces are seeking refuge and safety but are being shut out of our country and left in harm’s way.  Protecting our allies should be something all of America can get behind but the numbers show that this simply is not happening.

Here are the numbers provided by the State Department (and linked below) that this family and many other Iraqi families who assisted our troops are up against.  Due to immigration policy change, the number of Iraqi refugees allowed into the US in Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 was down over 4,900% from FY 2017.  This directly affects thousands of Iraqis who stood with us in our war efforts and are left in danger as a consequence.

The Number of Iraqi Refugees admitted into the US each fiscal year:

FY 2019:  28 Iraqi refugees  (October-December)

FY 2018:      140

FY 2017:   6,886

FY 2016:   9,880

FY 2015: 12,676

FY 2014: 19,769

FY 2013: 19,488

FY 2012: 12,163

FY 2011:   9,388

Please stay tuned as we strategize our next outreach efforts.  Share this petition with your contacts to help us reach 100,000 petition signers.  We are less than 1,000 away.

We will be sending more frequent “updates” on here in the future.  We continue to work on this case on a daily basis.  While the numbers are incredibly stacked against the family even with a conditional approval, we will never give up on them or forget everything they have sacrificed for us.

Please stay in the fight with us.

Pete
