Dear Friends, It has been over five months since the denial of Mohammed’s immigration case was overturned, in large part to your support. Unfortunately, there has been no further movement on the case and no set date for the next step. Congressional inquiries have prompted responses from USCIS that only confirm that the denial was, indeed, overturned and that the family remains in the clearance process. While we are grateful that the family's case is conditionally approved, the family remains in danger and in hiding while they wait. We urge you to continue to reach out to your representatives (even if you have already done so). A letter template can be found in our previous July 20, 2017 update titled “Urgent Call to Action: Join our Congressional Outreach Campaign to Save Iraqi/US Ally Family.” We will be sending out a formal request for Congressional outreach later this week. Please check out the included link to a project by Veterans for American Ideals (VFAI) titled "What I Fought For" and features Wisam, one of Mohammed’s sons who worked for the US Army as an interpreter. VFAI is nonpartisan group of veterans who share the belief that America is strongest when its policies and actions match its ideals. The organization has helped in our efforts to resettle the rest of this family who has sacrificed so much for America. We cannot thank you enough for your support and continued efforts. We will not rest until this heroic family is reunited here in safety. Pete
