Dear Supporters, Although we are well into Ramadan, there is no sign so far of 76 year old Grandpa Kamal’s release from Evin prison. We even had it confirmed recently that he was on a clemency list for Norooz 3 months ago, but his release was held up and no one knows why. It is not clear to us whether Iran has changed its mind or whether processes are bureaucratic and these things take time. Many times in the last few years we have been given strong indications about Grandpa Kamal’s release only to have our hopes dashed. In some ways, we should be sceptical about what we hear from Tehran until the day Grandpa Kamal calls us and confirms he is out of Evin prison. Hopefully that day will come very soon. There are 10 days of Ramadan left and you never know! We have teamed up with Nazanin Ratcliffe’s family to hold a candlelit vigil for Nazanin, her 2 year old daughter Gabriella and Grandpa Kamal this Tuesday 28 June 9-11pm in London. If you are based in London and are free, you are very welcome to join us.
