Dear 96,500 Supporters, Unfortunately the 5 year anniversary of Grandpa Kamal’s Evin Prison detention came and went yesterday Thursday with no release. In the build up to the anniversary we received hints that he might be released on the day (I suspect they made this up to try to disrupt our protest and petition hand in at the Iranian embassy in London) but of course he wasn’t. The protest was very touching with family, friends and Amnesty team coming together. I attach a photo. (There are more photos on www.twitter.com/FreeKForoughi.) Anyway, the campaign for Grandpa Kamal’s freedom goes on. And while he remains in Evin Prison, then as a minimum we want him and us to get the results of his medical from 17th November. Unbelievable that even this has not happened yet! In recent months, we have asked so much of all of you and you have delivered. You have written to your MPs and MEPs, signed the Amnesty petition, written Amnesty Urgent Action letters and sent us lovely messages. Thank you so much! In two weeks, I will be travelling to Brussels to speak at the European Parliament. While I am in Brussels I will be visiting EU Foreign Affairs Lead Federica Mogherini’s team to hand in this Change petition calling for the European Union to make freeing Grandpa Kamal the EU’s Number 1 priority in dealings with Iran. At the moment the petition is at very close to 100,000 signatures, but not quite. It would be wonderful to reach this milestone before my visit and petition hand in. During the next week, please could you try to get at least 1 new signature on the petition? Do pop round to your neighbours and friends close by and ask them to sign. Do call your family and friends.
