Dear Supporters, It is amazing how European leaders are queuing up to visit Iran without even a mention of 76 year old European Grandpa Kamal in Evin Prison. Instead, they are congratulating themselves and Iran for “diplomacy working”. How ironic. A month ago on 25 March, we asked those of you living in the European Union to write to your Member of European Parliament (MEP) about Grandpa Kamal – we are very grateful for your efforts. So far, as a result UK Green MEPs Jean Lambert, Molly Scott Cato and Keith Taylor have published a letter they have written to Federica Mogherini, which is great. But that leaves many MEPs who don’t seem to have done anything. If you have not yet written please can you do so? If you have written thank you very much - please can you write again? He gets no visitors, very little medical care and has not seen his family for over 5 years. Prisoners from USA and Canada (countries that have recently secured releases) have described the terrible conditions in Evin Prison. Grandpa Kamal and his family have waited over 150 days for details of his only medical given on 17 November 2015, which is really worrying. The Iranian authorities keep promising to release Grandpa Kamal but never do.
