Thanks to everyone who has signed the petition – all 731,000 of you. As the Final Say campaign spreads, I wanted to give you an update on the latest progress, and to let you know how to help us take this campaign to the next level by joining a march in London on Saturday 20 October.

Anyone who heard Theresa May at Prime Minister’s Questions this week will know that the issue of a Final Say referendum on the Brexit deal is front and centre of the news agenda. You made that happen. It’s the political story that is set to dominate this session of parliament, and we’re determined to make those in power listen to your message.

I was especially keen to hear Mervyn King – the ex-governor of the Bank of England, and a Brexit supporter at the time of the referendum – share his thoughts in an interview with the BBC. It “beggars belief”, he said, that Britain has found itself in a position where we are stockpiling food and medicines, as he savaged the negotiation process led by the government that has brought into sharp focus a Brexit deal in which “both camps feel that they haven’t got what they wanted”.

We agree. That’s why we feel the eventual deal needs to be judged by the people – on both sides – in a Final Say referendum to check that the outcome really matches the ambitions people had back in 2016.

Elsewhere in the news, GMB – one of Britain’s biggest unions, with more than 600,000 members – has backed a referendum, while the latest polling figures are consistently showing growing support for Remain.

Whichever side of the vote you are on – Brexit or Remain – we would love to see you at the March for the Future, organised by People’s Vote, which the Final Say campaign is backing. We should join forces and stand together to ensure our voices are heard. The link is here: peoples-vote.uk/march. And if you can, please also donate to help People’s Vote pay for the costs of the march – such events are neither easy nor free to organise.

Signatures and marches really can drive change – the balance of the debate is shifting fast. On 20 October, let’s come together to generate the kinds of numbers that simply cannot be ignored by those in power.

And please keep spreading the petition to your friends, family and social media followers – the link is change.org/finalsay. More and more people are coming around to our way of thinking. Let’s together win a victory for democracy, and for all our futures.
