Hello all 6,212 of you!!   Thank you to all of you who have signed the #FreePeriods petition! We now need to work to get this included in Party manifestos. With the General Election looming, this is the perfect time to write to your MP to tell them that urgent action is needed.   It’s time to end period poverty once and for all!   To get this important issue into political manifestos YOU need to write, write, write to your politicians. Period! I've drafted a template letter below. Feel free to edit, use or ignore it as you wish. You can send your letters to your politicians online in just a few quick steps! You can go to www.writetothem.com to find your local MPs, Councillors and MEPs. To message them, simply follow the links via the website. Once you send your message, you become a hero! Let’s make sure this election marks the end of period poverty!   Thank you!  Amika  TEMPLATE LETTER Dear---   Every month, girls across the country are missing school because they can’t afford sanitary provision. This impacts on their health, education and future life opportunities.   I have signed the petition on Change.org called #FreePeriods, which calls on the Government to take immediate action to provide free sanitary products to girls on free school meals. Please see the petition here: https://www.change.org/p/theresa-may-mp-free-sanitary-products-for-girls-on-free-school-meals-freeperiods This is an issue that the government must address urgently, and I request that it is included in your Party’s manifesto for the General Election 2017. This has already been debated in the House of Lords, and 13 MPs have signed the Early Day Motion to support these girls from low-income families.    It is imperative that the issue of period poverty is tackled so we give these schoolgirls the dignity they deserve, enabling them to continue their education and break out of the cycle of poverty and deprivation for themselves and future generations. Including this campaign in your manifesto will signal an important and progressive step in including women's issues in the political agenda.    Your sincerely,    ------
