REASONS TO BE SANCTIONED Let's say that you have accidentally missed an appointment with your "work coach", this inadvertent act could result in a 7-day sanction penalty that is equal to £10 a day plus another 7 days; 9 days, plus another ex-amount of days or up to 28 days. Get this! These "decision makers" cannot and will not tell you the significance of the importance to keep that one appointment because there is NO IMPORTANCE with regards to keeping the appointment. The appointment is easily rescheduled by calling the Universal Credit Service Centre for a new appointment. You have to tell the operative why you missed the appointment and he or she will give you to okay. However, do not be lulled into a false sense of security because a few months down the line some faceless coward will take it upon his or herself to sanction you - just when you thought it was safe! Again, there is no explanation as to why an appointment date was so significant to keep. Did the work coach have a job for you? No. And let's imagine that the work coach had a job vacancy, he or she would have your phone number and/or email address and will contact you promptly. The work coach wants to get you off his or her books - so to speak - as quickly as possible; it is in their best interest to phone you to say that they have a possible vacancy for you! Your work coach is, for the most part, bloody useless and that 99% of the appointments with him or her is just an exercise in manipulation and demoralisation. There are some good work coaches out there but a vast majority of them take great pleasure in tormenting their clients. Let's not forget, the work coach works on your behalf and not the other way around. And some work coaches are so bloody thick that the things that they are telling you to do not make any freaking sense! If you become unemployed and you get a work coach that is not listening to you then ask for another one straightaway!
