Without a shadow of a doubt the torture and imprisonment of Julian Assange is one of the most evil injustices of our time and it must be replaced with his freedom, his full rehabilitation and a comprehensive compensation regarding the harm done to him, in so many ways, for so many years.

But not only is it injust, it is also dangerous. It is dangerous to all of us, to our freedom and to the future of humanity in general. Because what is a human being? We are not a heap of atoms happy if only our physical needs are satisfied. We are also individuals using our brain to think and using that thinking to distinguish truth from lies, using our heart to try to figure right from wrong and our feet, hands and voice to spread what we have found to be true and do what we have found to be right. Without that freedom we can only live the fragment of what we actually are as a human being.

In Julians own words: «To be alive as a human being is to know, in the same way as it is to have a heart that beats» and «To keep a person ignorant is to place them in a cage».
