Lora Mumford was the lead singer of Halyx, the short-lived outer space rock band that performed in Disneyland in the summer of 1981.

Her musical talent could have launched her to stardom, but when a record deal for the band fell through and the group was disbanded, Lora took a job as a waitress to allow her the freedom to take any future opportunities Disney would offer.

The opportunities never came. Halyx, and Lora, fell into obscurity.

Thanks to the vast fandom of Disney parks enthusiasts, Halyx continues to gain notoriety on podcasts and YouTube videos. Most recently, YouTube channel Defunctland released their full length documentary, "Live from the Space Stage: A HALYX Story", further highlighting how incredibly talented Lora was.

Sadly, Lora passed away in 2011, unaware of the skyrocketing popularity of the greatest space rock band there ever was.

I call upon the Walt Disney Company to posthumously grant Lora the Disney Legend Award in 2021, 40 years after Halyx performed, to recognize her contribution to the imaginative spirit that continues to make Disneyland "the happiest place on Earth", and perhaps even the happiest place in space.
