Bring Back Jessie's Walt Disney World Meet & Greet

The Issue

As of October 1, 2016, Jessie the cowgirl, one of the main characters from Disney/Pixar's Toy Story films, was cut from meet and greet experiences at Walt Disney World. She now only appears in the "Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It!" parade, which severely limits the contact characters are allowed to have with guests, and her presence has been sorely missed by her fans. Numerous pleas for Jessie's return have been sent to WDW via email, letters, and social media since her cut, but have been ignored. Despite Jessie's popularity, a new Toy Story themed land opening at Hollywood Studios next year, and "Toy Story 4" set to be released in 2019, Disney still sees the Green Army Men as more valid characters to be represented than the franchise's female lead.

Jessie is an important character for girls, to serve as an alternative to all the princesses that predominate at the Disney Parks. Even other popular female characters, such as Minnie and Alice, fit the girly-girl ideal. Girls who don't see themselves in ballgowns and tiaras need Jessie, as a positive role model and inspiration. Princesses shouldn't be the only girls who matter, and Disney needs to make this right. Dream big, cowgirl!
