Dear Mr Duffield,
Application MW.0151/23- Oxfordshire County Council. Re. Wicklesham Quarry SSSI, Faringdon
The above application for a major industrial infrastructure development at Wicklesham Quarry SSSI, Faringdon, has been submitted to Oxfordshire County Council. Your department carried out three weeks of a public planning consultation for this proposal in July 2023, before withdrawing the application. Members of the public had already submitted more than eighty comments.
In the interests of openness and accountability, I wish to request that all these comments now be passed to Oxfordshire County Council for inclusion in the consultation that has opened on the same proposal. Failure to include these responses in the current consultation would represent a breach of the rights of all those who took part, who expected their views to count.
You have contact details for all those who took part, and should you consider it necessary, it would be a straightforward matter to contact everyone and ask whether they would like their earlier comments to be included.
I note, yet again, that people in Faringdon have received no notification of this proposal for a major development on their doorstep, and the developer has failed to consult local people. It seems clear that there is a general unwillingness to invite local consultation or take it seriously, since people can only express views on what they aware of. I trust that both the Vale District Council and Oxfordshire County Council will recognize their shared responsibilities in this matter.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
your name
