We need to show Councillors our support for our unique local environment tomorrow at County Hall at 2.00pm. Only through the dedication & generous donations of supporters of the campaign to Protect Wicklesham Quarry from Development did we succeed in getting a High Court judgment that has prevented this unique site from being turned into an industrial estate by the back-door method of a neighbourhood plan. The High Court ruled that this policy could not trump the existing planning conditions, which, as a 'county matter', fall outside the scope of a neighbourhood plan. The judge also ruled that Faringdon Council's policy conflicted with the Local Plan, and failed to meet the Basic Conditions. He further ruled that they were wrong to describe it as a 'brownfield site.' These statements were a vindication of our collective efforts over the last 3 years- and we must build on our success by ensuring that the Restoration and Aftercare Schemes are carried out -to the letter! Please help me to prevent Wicklesham Quarry's biodiversity from being cynically trashed, in order to help justify the landowner's plan to concrete it over for industrial units. Look at how far we have come and what we have already achieved, and don't look away now! Wicklesham Quarry SSSI still needs your support.
