Aggiornamento sulla petizionePROTECT WICKLESHAM QUARRY FROM DEVELOPMENTA quick update and season’s greetings to Wicklesham Quarry supporters!

Everything has gone quiet at Wicklesham Quarry. A solitary digger that was spreading imported topsoil in the base has been stationery for the past 3 weeks. Buildings that should have been removed are still there, and no attempt has been made to clear surrounding trees from the soil bunds, in order to replace the original topsoil in the base. Very little has changed since early October, when the County Council reported that Grundon had failed to carry out the restoration.
My lawyers have now received a response from the Vale of White Horse District Council, and once the High Court grants my application for Judicial Review, a second stage CrowdJustice Appeal will be launched.
After receiving the County Council’s Internal Review letter, in which they state that the landowner requested the planning conditions for restoration to be lifted, I have written once again to the County Council. According to their own Monitoring Reports and the subsequent inaction, the present circumstances now appear to involve: -
• Non-compliance with planning conditions
• Failure to obtain a Mitigation Licence in respect of a European Protected Species
• Damage to the quarry’s ponds - a UK BAP Priority Habitat under Section 41 the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act, and habitat of a Protected Species.
If you wish to ask the County Council what action they are taking with regard to the protection and restoration of Wicklesham Quarry and the ongoing breach of planning conditions, contact:
Mr Bev Hindle
Acting Director for Environment and Economy
Oxfordshire County Council
Speedwell House
Speedwell Street

Or e-mail: Bev.Hindle@Oxfordshire.gov.uk
The more the County Council is made aware of public concerns about the failure to protect and restore this unique Earth Science SSSI, and to conserve its biodiversity, the stronger our chances are of protecting this very special site for future generations! So please drop Mr Hindle a few lines over Christmas to let him know of your concerns.
Sincere thanks to all loyal supporters of the Campaign to Protect Wicklesham Quarry from Development. With your help I have been able to take the case for Wicklesham Quarry to the High Court, and with your continuing support we WILL succeed in saving this unique site.
Best wishes to everyone for the new year.
