Petition updatePROTECT WICKLESHAM QUARRY FROM DEVELOPMENTThe words of a Wicklesham supporter say it all!

"A few years ago we were able to collect fossils with permission, while there we found plenty of outstanding ones ranging from coral to marine reptile bones and teeth, within a block of rock I even found a dinosaur tooth all of which have taken pride of place in my collection. It would be a shame for this land to be lost completely to future generations, as that day we didn't just find fossils but also had the pleasure of stumbling across newts, toads, deer and foxes, turning this site into an industrial or warehouse site would be a real loss to Britain's natural history." I hope Paul Downhill will not mind me quoting the lovely message he left on the petition website some months ago, for which I am very grateful. For generations of local people Wicklesham Quarry was once a magical place of escape and exploration, always with new treasures to find and unexpected encounters with nature. It can be again. Future generations growing up in Faringdon need to enjoy and benefit from Wicklesham Quarry's unique qualities. It is a privilege to have it on our doorstep, and we MUST protect it! Thank you Paul!
