A correction is due to my very recent update which I am more than happy to make, not only in the interests of accuracy, of course, but especially in order to spare the unwarranted blushes of Caroline Lucas and the Green Party. No doubt the Greens will breathe a collective sigh of relief once they realize they do not have to acknowledge Alex Meredith as one of theirs. Apologies to Caroline et al for setting green blood pressures soaring! Faringdon Councillor and parliamentary candidate Alex Meredith is in fact a Lib Dem, as someone has just pointed out. You could easily be led astray on his political affiliations (as I was) by his claim that it was his "commitment to renewable energy and passion for sustainability and the environment that first got Alex interested in the Liberal Democrats." Alex's blurb claims he has "earned a reputation as a tenacious local campaigner following his fights to prevent the closure of local road bridges." Really Alex? Maybe just a little exaggeration on you part here? Wasn't this a row about the TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ONE BRIDGE in order to carry out essential repairs!? And this closure, which was seemingly unavoidable, went ahead anyway. Or perhaps Alex has single-handedly saved a whole load of local bridges threatened with demolition that no one has heard about? We look forward to hearing Alex's statement about his vote on Faringdon Neighbourhood Plan, and about his passion for "protecting and enhancing the local environment".
