Dear supporters, liebe Unterstützer (deutsche Version siehe unten), now it has happened, what I have always dreaded. I had a selection of horrible pictures of animals being tortured on the screen of my PC, when my daughter Conny (aged 6) surprised me and gazed at the pictures. I couldn't click them away quickly enough. Deeply disturbed she looked at the pictures and started to cry: “Why, Daddy, why do people do such things to animals – why?” I took her in my arms and could scarcely repress my own tears and answered, “Because they are evil”. I didn't know what else to tell a six year old. “But, you see”, I continued, “I am fighting these crimes right now and many people from all over the world are helping me to do so.” Conny squeezed me as tightly as she could and said: “I want to help too and always be there for animals, just like you”, and she ran to cuddle her dear friend Nelly. Well, what am I supposed to do – now it is not only my duty to help these animals, but to fulfill the promise given to my little daughter, too, and to all the other young people, who do not deserve to be forced to live in a world, where such crimes are everyday occurrences. We have now been able to win 43,810 supporters of our petition to the United Nations – an impressive figure, considering that we only launched our petition last month. And yet, we are too few considering the dimension of our goal. In the meantime we have contacted all the relevant addresses / decision makers, the United Nations, the Secretary General of the United Nations, all the Representatives of the member states to the United Nations, various UN institutions, Pope Francis, the Dalai Lama, various governments and the world press. The result: Zero – no reaction, from no one! What are 43,928 people compared to 7,3 billion? Large organizations like Avaaz, changeverein.org, PETA, Welttierschutzgesellschaft etc. have refused to support us – we are on our own to try and find enough support for our petition in all the world. Dear friends: “It is better to kindle a light than to complain about the darkness”. Let us turn this small flame into an outcry like a major worldwide fire against these unspeakable crimes! Please spread our petition anywhere on this planet, send our update to all your friends and family and colleagues and post the link in all social media as well. Do it for the tortured animals, do it for your own soul's well-being and the well-being of our children, do it for ethics towards all life and please do it for my little Conny, too. If our unique initiative should fail, then we can forget about the globalization of animal welfare and ethics. DEUTSCH: „Warum, Papa, warum machen Menschen sowas mit Tieren – warum?“ Liebe Unterstützer/innen, jetzt ist passiert, wovor ich mich immer gefürchtet habe. Ich hatte gerade eine Auswahl Horrorfotos von Tierfolterungen auf dem Bildschirm meines Computers, als meine Tochter Conny (6 Jahre) mich überraschte und die Fotos sah. Ich konnte sie nicht schnell genug wegklicken. Verstört sah sie die Fotos an und begann zu weinen. „Warum, Papa, warum machen Menschen sowas mit Tieren – warum?“ Ich nahm sie in den Arm und konnte mir das Weinen ebenfalls kaum verkneifen, und antwortete „weil sie böse sind“. Ich wusste einer Sechsjährigen gegenüber keine bessere Antwort. „Aber schau…“, fuhr ich fort, „…ich bin dabei, diese Verbrechen zu bekämpfen und ganz viele Menschen auf der ganzen Welt helfen mir dabei.“ Conny drückte mich ganz fest und sagte: „Ich will auch helfen und immer für die Tiere da sein, so wie Du“, und rannte danach zu ihrer Freundin Nelly, um mit ihr zu schmusen. Tja, was soll ich machen – jetzt bin ich nicht nur in der Pflicht der Tiere, sondern habe auch ein Versprechen gegenüber meinem Töchterchen einzulösen und allen anderen jungen Menschen, die es nicht verdienen, in einer Welt zu leben, in der solche Verbrechen alltäglich sind. Wir haben nun 43.928 Unterstützer/innen für unsere Petition an die Vereinten Nationen gewinnen können – eine beeindruckende Zahl, wenn man bedenkt, dass wir erst vor einem Monat unsere Petition gestartet haben. Aber es sind zu wenige, wenn man sich die Dimension unseres Ziels vor Augen führt. Inzwischen haben wir alle relevanten Adressaten/Entscheider, die UN, den UN Generalsekretär, sämtliche UN-Botschaften, verschiedene UN-Institutionen, den Papst, den Dalai Lama, diverse Regierungen und die Weltpresse angeschrieben. Das Resultat: Null – keine Reaktion, von niemandem! Was sind schon 43.000 Menschen im Vergleich zu 7.3 Mrd.? Großorganisationen wie Avaaz, changeverein.org, PETA, Welttierschutzgesellschaft etc. haben es abgelehnt, uns zu unterstützen – wir müssen also alleine dafür sorgen, dass unsere Petition genügend Unterstützung auf der ganzen Welt bekommt. Liebe Freud/innen, „Es ist besser, ein Licht zu entzünden, als die Dunkelheit zu beklagen.“ Lasst uns aus diesem Licht einen weltweiten Flächenbrand des Aufschreis gegen diese unaussprechlichen Verbrechen entfachen! Bitte verbreitet unsere Petition überall auf diesem Planeten, leitet dieses Update von uns weiter an all Eure Bekannten, Verwandten, Freunde und Kollegen und postet den Petitionslink in den sozialen Netzwerken. Bitte tut es für die geschundenen Tiere, für Euer Seelenheil und das unsere Kindern, für die Ethik gegenüber allem Leben und tut es bitte auch für meine Conny.
