Subject: Petition Calling for a Global Educational Initiative on Shared Human Values and the Principles of the United Nations

Your Excellency,

We respectfully submit this petition on behalf of more than 5,000 signatories, primarily from Spain, who share a common aspiration: strengthening global awareness of the principles of peaceful coexistence and shared human values embodied in the Charter of the United Nations.

This petition was launched through the Change.org platform and has received more than 5,000 verified signatures. A link to the petition and confirmation of the signatures is attached for reference.

We are living in a period marked by growing division, disinformation, distrust, and social fragmentation. Many citizens around the world feel increasingly powerless in the face of global challenges that transcend borders and political interests. At the same time, the institutions and principles created after the tragedies of the twentieth century remain one of humanity’s greatest collective achievements and continue to offer a framework for peace, dignity, cooperation, and human progress.

In 1945, “the Peoples of the United Nations” came together with the determination to establish a more peaceful and just world order. The ideals expressed in the Charter of the United Nations and subsequent international agreements remain profoundly relevant today. However, many citizens are insufficiently aware of these shared principles and of their importance for humanity’s future.

For this reason, we respectfully call upon the United Nations to:

• Publicly and proactively explain the core principles of coexistence and shared human values established by the UN Charter and related international documents;

• Promote these principles in a clear, educational, and accessible manner, translated into as many languages as possible;

• Make greater use of digital platforms and social media to become a global reference point for the promotion of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and shared progress.

We believe that reminding humanity of these common principles could inspire renewed international solidarity and civic engagement across cultures, religions, and political differences. Shared values are not merely symbolic ideals; they are practical foundations for cooperation and long-term stability.

The United Nations occupies a unique position as the principal international institution entrusted with promoting the principles collectively adopted by the international community. At a time of increasing polarization, the active dissemination of these principles could help reinforce a sense of common purpose among the peoples of the world.

We therefore respectfully ask the United Nations to consider initiating or supporting a broad public educational effort aimed at strengthening global awareness of the values and responsibilities that unite humanity.

We would be grateful for any acknowledgement of receipt of this petition and for any indication of whether the proposal could be considered by the relevant offices of the United Nations.

We thank you for your attention and for the continuing work of the United Nations in the service of peace, human dignity, and international cooperation.

Respectfully,

Juan Coma-Cros
