Regardless of our beliefs, we must acknowledge that Pope Leo XIV has a global vision of humanity and the independence necessary to openly express what he thinks.

From his speech last April 16 in Cameroon, I would highlight the following sentences:

“The world is being ravaged by a handful of tyrants, yet it is held together by a multitude of supportive brothers and sisters!”

"Let us look into each other’s eyes: we are this immense people! Peace is not something we must invent, it is something we must embrace ...”

The Pope’s words reinforce what we stand for, although using much stronger terms than ours (“The world is being ravaged by a handful of tyrants”). Moreover, he points out that the solution does not lie in inventing new formulas, but in embracing peace (“we are this immense people! Peace is not something we must invent, it is something we must embrace ..”).

We propose a practical and viable solution to achieve that same goal: when humanity created the United Nations, it already agreed on what must be done to achieve peace and progress. We are simply asking the UN to educate humanity by widely disseminating, using the appropriate techniques, the agreements that have already been reached.

This is simple, feasible, and timely, especially at a moment when the UN needs to reinvent itself.
