One year ago today, the government said it would launch a consultation on ending cages for hens. Honestly, it was a really hopeful moment.

But here we are a year later, and I feel betrayed.

10 million egg-laying hens are still confined to cruel cages in the UK each year, and the government has done nothing. 

As we approach Easter, a time many people associate with perfectly fluffy little baby chicks, I can only think of the hens who won’t get to feel the sun on their feathers.

This Easter, I want to see the government launch a consultation on ending cages for good. No more hens should have to suffer like my beautiful Beatrice did.

Together, let’s write to PM Rishi Sunak to show him just how many people want his government to end cruel cages. Will you join me?
