Christmas is almost upon us, and I’ve been reflecting on the last few months since I rescued Beatrice the hen.

Beatrice spent most of her life on a factory farm, in the confinement of a cage. Dimly lit and with barely the room to spread her wings, life wasn’t easy. 

I rehomed Beatrice in July, and she has gone from strength to strength ever since. Her feathers have regrown, she’s confident, friendly and always first in line at feeding time. She loves playing in the garden with my family and the other hens.

Beatrice will have a merry Christmas. But unfortunately, for the 14 million hens still living in cages here in the UK, there will be nothing to celebrate.

So from Beatrice and me to you, thank you for your support to end this cruelty. With 90,000 voices behind this petition, it's time for the Government to take action and ban cages, for good.
