The Town of Hempstead is Fighting to Stop Congestion Pricing!

The Issue

Beginning June 30th, the MTA’s congestion pricing plan will go into effect and will cost drivers $15 dollars a day to drive in Manhattan below 60th Street. Supervisor Don Clavin and the Town of Hempstead is filing a lawsuit that seeks a permanent injunction to stop this unconstitutional tax from ever moving forward. Sign this petition to continue the fight to make sure that congestion pricing and the enormous negative impact it WILL have on
Hempstead Town residents never comes to fruition.

We are proud to be the first municipality on Long Island to stand up in the face of Albany’s newest tax. This poorly conceived plan is just another cash-grab scheme that will once again come at the expense of hard-working Nassau residents who are just trying to make a living. Worse yet, our dedicated first responders who commute into the city each day to put their lives on the line for our safety received NO exemption from this burdensome new tax. Congestion pricing will hurt middle class families and will be especially damaging to small businesses and our region’s
economic growth. Beyond this, the entire program is tone-deaf, as more and more residents continue to leave our region as they get priced out by
Albany’s reckless tax and spend attitude.

Join us in saying NO to the Governor and the MTA’s newest commuter tax.
