Representing a 32% increase over last year, 4,972 Jews ascended the Temple Mount throughout the course of the first Jewish month of the year.

It should be noted that throughout the entire month the Temple Mount was only open to Jews for 21 days for a total of 94 hours (4 hours daily). On average the Israeli police only allowed 52 Jews to enter the Temple Mount for every hour it was open to Jewish ascent. 

Here is a breakdown and some highlights from the Month.

Holiday Pilgrimage:

  • Rosh Hashana 160 ascend the Mount.
  • Days of Repentance between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur 1,210 ascended the Mount.
  • Yom Kippur 232 ascend the Mount.
  • Sukkot Holiday 2,728 ascended the Temple Mount

28 Jews Arrested, Detained or Expelled from the Mount.

  • 21 for bowing down
  • 2 for blowing Shofar on Rosh HaShana
  • 2 for singing Hatikvah
  • 1 for singing a religious song
  • 1 for picking up a stone for keepsake 
  • 1 for reciting the Kaddish prayer for the deceased. 

17 Joyus Occasions

  •  5 grooms ascended on their wedding day
  • 4 brides ascended on their wedding day
  • 8 Bar and Bat Mitzvah children ascended on their special day.

Our Petition:
