Rain Email Down like Digital Confetti!

Thank you for your amazing show of support for the petition. My daughter and I are so thankful.
 
Now we have to ask you to do the annoying thing, but hold on! We have tried to make it easy for you.
 
The State College School Board meeting is tomorrow evening (It’s a Zoom meeting, please sign up and come, more on that below). I have been advised that nothing short of a barrage of emails will get their attention.
 
So, considering there are about 150 of you, if you could grab one, two or more like-minded family members, friends (and kids too!), and each send a short email to the Board, we could make a loud, clear statement.
 
So, because this is a giant pain in the butt and everyone hates doing it, here is some help. Feel free to copy and paste all or some, change it to fit your circumstances and beliefs or ignore it entirely and do your own thing. It can be short and unpolished.

Next, here are some things to write:

*We reject the two choices we have been given and instead choose another: Remote Learning with Delta teachers and classes
* Although we appreciate the ten years the VA has been offered, we are in a situation where we need to protect our teachers, staff, and community.
*A remote option for secondary in general would do that, as well as benefit the mental health of students by allowing students and staff to remain in their regular classes with the familiarity of teachers and classmates from their in-person schools.
*Specifically, Delta is a democratic school and functions by acting on democratic principles.
*This is not a fairness issue of some kind. Even if we can only make remote learning work at Delta, then we have at least protected some of our SCASD teachers. Some is better than none.
*We have a moral obligation to protect the people who care for our children.
*This is not a new concept, we already did it in the spring of 2020, and since then our teachers have been striving to improve the remote model.
If even one person gets sick, huge numbers of kids and teachers will have been exposed and will have to quarantine at home. Will the teachers then be expected to offer in-class and remote classes each time there is a case?
*Finally, if you have specific concerns about the “safety” plan’s effectiveness, describe them. My daughter, Grace, keeps telling me with the flush of every toilet, the bathrooms will be an aerosolized, Coved-19, petri dish. I hadn’t even considered the bathrooms.
 *Also, look at the comments on the petition, so many people have said so many brilliant things.
 
So PLEASE dash off those emails ASAP and cajole others to do so also. Everything depends on it, really. Remember the Board meeting is tomorrow at 7pm, so they have to be sent before then.
