I want to share some updates on what is really happening behind this 55 billion dollar sale, because the truth about EA’s new owners is more alarming than it first looked.
EA’s new owners are connected to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners. Reports have already confirmed that they plan to use artificial intelligence heavily inside EA, not only for development but as a way to cut jobs and reduce costs. This is not about innovation for players, but about replacing human creativity with algorithms in order to squeeze profits.
At the same time EA is carrying a 20 billion dollar debt that these new owners are now responsible for. To pay it off, restructuring and shutting down games is expected to begin in fiscal year 2027, which means as early as April or May 2026. That means entire communities around EA games may vanish just to balance the books.
On top of the financial and technological risks, there is also the political side. Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son in law, is directly involved through his investment firm. Trump’s administration is remembered for rolling back protections for LGBTQ+ people and women, and Kushner was at the heart of it. Combined with Saudi Arabia’s severe record of restrictions on women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and free expression, the ownership of EA now carries a heavy political agenda.
This is not just about a company changing hands. It is about whether one of the most inclusive and creative franchises in gaming history will survive corporate greed, artificial intelligence used against workers, and owners tied to politics that openly oppose equality.
The Sims has always been a safe space where millions of players could be themselves. That safe space is now at risk of being censored or erased.
