If you have any investment in the well-being and education of children then please read my petition and support it. Parents make your voices heard. Are you happy with what is being asked of your children or schools? If not please sign and share this petition. Nicky Morgan says that children need to have mastered the basics by the age of 11. I would ask her to define her understanding of the word basics. Is being able to differentiate between a subordinate and a relative clause the basics of English? Do 10-11 year olds need to know how to identify past progressive verbs? Why is speed so essential in mathematics? Surely accuracy and understanding is more important. Is two years experience of a six year curriculum really enough to enable testing? Should education be about preparing for tests or should it be about developing thinking, imagination and the pleasure of learning? Have a look at this report in the Telegraph prior to the election.
