There's just one week left to tell the Royal Parks we don't want them to bring back charges to play sport in Hyde Park. But we're worried that they don't seem to have done much to let the public know there's a chance for them to have their say on the future of sport in the park.
So this morning we went down to the Old Football Pitches in Hyde Park to make sure everyone knows. We unveiled a 100ft sign saying
For Sale?
If the Royal Parks allow a private company to run the area and charge for support, playing sport in one of London's most iconic parks is only going to be possible for those that can afford it.
Whilst the proposed charges might seem small, so is the space you would get. As one person put it 'What do they expect us to play in that size area, Twister?'. And once it starts, there's nothing to stop them increasing the costs year on year.
It shouldn't be that way. We need to keep Hyde Park free for everyone to use, regardless of their ability to pay. Help us by sharing the image and the consultation online.

With your help we can make sure that the public know they risk losing the right to use Hyde Park for free, and stop the Royal Parks privatising our parks.
