While COVID-19 is taking hundreds of thousands of lives in the developing world, Australia is one of the Western countries blocking the move to waive patent rights of COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.

India has recorded a million news cases in 3 days and is desperately trying to contain the second wave of the pandemic. This waiver of patent rights would allow faster technology transfer. It will make the vaccine cheaper and affordable to large masses in a shorter time.
