San Pedro Ambergris Caye has been a community whose main industry is tourism. We do not have other resources to rely on and the little business revenue is not enough to keep our economy alive! Our community’s nature of business have all been directly or indirectly affected Due to Covid 19 our community has had two lockdowns with minimal help to its fellow residents. This has become a disaster and it’s far worst than the aftermath and effects of a hurricane.

Islanders have exhausted their resources and although San Pedro has contributed millions and millions in tax revenue the assistance is literally crumbs to what our community deserves.

There is no recovery plan in place! If our community recovers and our ports of entry opens the rest of our districts can spread the virus yet, again! and we may be forced into a third lockdown which will be detrimental.

We need our Prime Minister to consider reopening our Tourism Industry! Let San Pedro be phase 1. Let San Pedro restore and rebuild its community! If they want our tax dollars they need to adhere to our guidelines. We have lost so much. The small business investments, the work force, the ability to send our children to school or afford medical expenses in the event we get sick. 

Allow us to OPEN for tourism! controlling and tracking our small scale community is a better plan to reopen Belize!

Thereafter, once that is controlled open other districts slowly and inject income for our districts to be able to sustain their farming and production for exportation. Invest in your people Prime Minister. We need people who are less dependent on their government and can produce to create reserves that will assist them in times like these! Our cost of living is killing us on top of being unemployed!!! Assets are deteriorating! 

Dying of hunger is not an option!!! Our government knows it cannot provide so let this islands voice be heard!!!

WE NEED TO MOVE FORWARD, WE CANNOT HIDE FOREVER! THIS VIRUS IS HERE TO STAY!!!
