As at the 8th of January the fires now have burnt 4.9 million hectares, at least 25 people have been killed, over 1 billion native animals have been killed, and almost 2000 homes have been destroyed.

It just feels like we're in a war and we're watching the country we love being destroyed around us.

Some of the damage to societies and people is irreparable, and the damage to the environment will take decades to repair.

This is completely unprecedented and it is bringing out the best in many of us with the fantastic work of the firemen and women, other emergency services, the volunteer support services and wildlife carers.

The support for this petition has been great, please keep it coming and share widely - we need to get the numbers up into the tens of thousands (if not hundreds) for it really to exert pressure on the Government, media and national conversation.

We need a Royal Commission to flush out everything, every issue, every truth, every untruth and get to the bottom of this so we are NEVER IN THIS POSITION AGAIN.
