My dear friends, family and supporters, It’s been exactly day 36 today since I posted my petition “Justice for Alexia”. I feel it is important that I update you about progress and what has been happening with the campaign since I first posted. I am pleased to confirm that till this day we have successfully secured close to 7,000 signatures. First I would like to thank you all for your support and assistance in securing these signatures, I couldn’t have reached this milestone without your help, to this I say a big thanks to all of you for doing what is right, legal aid to those who need it most and cannot afford and justice for all. Our next plan or line of action is to assign a time and a date (just before Alexia’s first anniversary) to present our petition to the Prime Minister all things being well and hopefully He will listen to our plight and act upon it. I get asked a lot of questions like “how do you feel to how are you coping”? I must say the answer is not always the same and has not been easy. At the beginning it was particularly difficult to answer their questions having spent the last few months trying to adjust to the situation and to accept the fact that my beautiful Alexia is no longer here with us. You all agree with me that it cannot be easy for any person especially parents to watch an object fall and crush your child to death in a play park only for you to later discover that the park hasn’t been checked nor inspected for nearly two years. We would have no way of knowing the park isn’t safe for us to take our children to right? Absolutely Disgraceful. Now our main focus is to work hard to secure legal aid for Alexia’s inquest to go on fairly and smoothly come January but we have no way knowing whether or not legal aid will be approved given how things stand at the moment but fighting this injustice together is the only way of keeping us hopeful of achieving results for Alexia. As for myself, I live each day dreading the day I took Alexia to her favourite park to have fun, A park that if ONLY I’d known that it hasn’t been checked/inspected for so long wouldn’t have taken her there and the same applies to many parents out there. We had no way of knowing that. Apart from asking for signatures I also ask for your prayers and will continue to keep you updated. Thanks
