Alright so I think it's important that everyone knows who is involved with this project (so far).
There's me, Brian Kelly, but just because it's my name up there doesn't mean I'm the only guy. There's my wife Kathleen Cavalaro, a couple of arts administrators and activists in Portsmouth NH. We run a theatre here. There's Aaron Fournier, who has been quietly working on a memorial of some sort here for a while. There's Keep Portsmouth Loud lead by Jasmin Hunter, Trevor Bartlett, myself along with a bunch of citizens in Portsmouth who advocate for the arts and live music, among other things.
There are also other moving parts in the city. We have a mostly friendly city council, another arts advocacy organization called ArtSpeak, who are commissioned by the city and are different but supportive.
Overall we're a good bunch to get this done, whatever hurdles get in the way (and we expect some). It's important that you know that this is not a group of people saying that someone should do this. This is a group of people that can actually get it done. We have experience in fundraising and maneuvering through the local political machinery (which can be complicated).
We're motivated, especially now that the support for this project has been so overwhelming. We have received dozens of offers of support from bands, to breweries, to foundries, to reporters, and there will be a time when we need your help. We've also got signatures from Portsmouth, to D.C, to Brazil and Syria. It's clear that Dio holds a special place in a lot of people's hearts and we promise to respect that.
For now, spread the word, get support, and we promise to keep you updated.
